How to turn off Reels on iPhone — and why Screen Time doesn't work

The approach that works: make Reels fail to load
Instagram streams video from dedicated media servers. If your phone limits traffic to just those servers, Reels can't buffer — but photos, messages and stories, which are tiny by comparison, still get through. That's a feature-level block that iOS can't do natively but a small on-device filter can.
